Percent of max
Power is the percentage of the source’s maximum output. 50% on a 20W diode and 50% on a 55W CO2 are entirely different energies — which is why settings only transfer within a machine class.
Running 100% constantly shortens diode and tube life. If a cut needs 100% at a crawl, the honest answer is usually more passes or a bigger class of machine.
