DPI

Engraving dot resolution

DPI (dots per inch) is the resolution of the source image feeding a raster engrave. It pairs with LPI: sending a 600 DPI photo to a 254 LPI job wastes pixels; sending 100 DPI to 318 LPI wastes line density.

A sane pipeline: prepare art at roughly the LPI you will run, then let dithering translate grayscale to dots.
