Size the bed to your best-selling product, plus batching. Coasters and ornaments: almost any bed works, and a 400×400mm diode batches a dozen at once. Signs and door hangers: 500mm+ in one dimension starts mattering. Sheet-goods efficiency: match the bed to your supplier’s stock size to cut waste.

Pass-through slots (front/back openings) stretch a small bed for long boards. Buying double the bed "for someday" mostly buys a bigger footprint and a longer save-up.
